Audi's keys are also on the VAG platform's shared architecture, which means the security research and the tooling that exists for one Volkswagen Group car tends to be applicable across several - not a reason for alarm, but a reason not to rely on the key alone. An immobiliser adds a step that no amount of key work provides: without the correct sequence, the car does not start regardless of what the network has been told.
Audis are clean cars to work on. The CAN architecture takes a Ghost II properly, trim releases predictably, and there are sensible factory routes to use. We take factory feeds with manufacturer connector standards and cut nothing, so warranty and Audi service plans are unaffected. On RS models with the sports seats and the lower centre console, access takes longer, and on the e-tron cars we work to the high-voltage safety procedure - which does not complicate the tracker but does mean we do not rush.
