The more interesting threat is CAN injection, which bypasses the key entirely: the attacker reaches the vehicle network through an accessible point in the harness and instructs the car to unlock and start. The technique was first documented publicly on another marque and is generic to CAN-based vehicles rather than proven model-by-model, but it is the reason we recommend an immobiliser that adds an authorisation step the network itself cannot supply.
BMWs are among the most straightforward cars we work on. The CAN architecture is well understood, a Ghost II integrates cleanly, and the trim releases properly if you know the clips. We take factory feeds using manufacturer connector standards and cut nothing, so warranty and BMW service plans are unaffected. If your car has an iDrive fault or you want CarPlay activated at the same time, we do that work too and it makes sense to combine the visits.
