Porsche ownership splits neatly for our purposes. The Cayenne and Macan are used daily, parked on drives, and stolen the way any in-demand keyless SUV is stolen. The 911s, Boxsters and Caymans - especially the air-cooled and early water-cooled cars - are often stored, driven a few thousand miles a year, and carry a value that has nothing to do with their insurance group. Those two situations need different advice, and we give it differently.

Book assessment WhatsApp 07468 844431On a Cayenne, Macan, Panamera or Taycan the risk is relay attack from a drive, and the countermeasure is an immobiliser rather than more tracking. On an older 911 or Boxster the risk is different again: these cars are taken from storage, moved by transporter, and broken for parts that are worth more than the shell. They also frequently have no CAN bus to hang a modern immobiliser on, so the answer is a well-hidden tracker with independent power and motion alerting, not a CAN-based system that has nothing to talk to.
Modern Porsches take a Ghost II cleanly - it sits on the CAN bus, needs no fob, and adds a sequence the car will not start without. On the older cars the work is more considered: a 993 or a 996 has limited routing and a lot of visible trim, and the interior is not something to be casual with. We take our time, we use existing looms and factory grommets, and everything we fit is reversible without a trace. If you also want CarPlay in an older Porsche - a PCCM Plus in a Gen 1 996, 986, 997.1 or 987.1, for instance - we can do both on the same visit so the trim comes out once.
