Genuine Porsche Classic PCCM Plus supplied and fitted for £1,799.99 — Apple CarPlay, navigation, DAB+ and Bluetooth in your 996, 997, Boxster or Cayman. Mobile across London & Surrey.
Porsche PCCM Plus is Porsche’s own answer to a problem every owner of an older 911 or Boxster runs into: the car is superb to drive and impossible to use with a phone. The factory head unit was designed for cassettes and CDs. There is no CarPlay, no usable Bluetooth, and often no way to hear a navigation instruction without a phone stuck to the windscreen. ACR Automobile supplies and fits PCCM Plus across London and Surrey for £1,799.99, mobile, at your home or office.
PCCM stands for Porsche Classic Communication Management. It is a head unit built by Porsche Classic — the division that keeps older Porsches on the road — rather than an aftermarket stereo with a Porsche badge on it. PCCM Plus is the double-DIN version, with a 7-inch touchscreen sized for the original aperture in the centre console.
The point of it is restraint. The fascia is styled to sit in a twenty-year-old interior without shouting: black surround, period-correct proportions, physical rotary controls either side of the screen rather than a slab of gloss plastic. Sit in the car with the screen off and the dashboard still reads as original. That is the difference between a Porsche Classic part and a generic unit cut into the console.
PCCM Plus is made for the cars with a double-DIN aperture:
Gen 2 cars are not compatible. From 2009 the 997.2, 987.2 Boxster and Cayman, and the Cayman R, came with PCM 3.0 or 3.1 in a different fascia — those want a CarPlay retrofit into the existing PCM instead. Air-cooled and earlier cars take the single-DIN PCCM — the 911 up to 993, and the 924, 944, 968 and 928. Both units come from Porsche Classic and both give you CarPlay; the difference is the size of the hole in your console and the screen that fits it. If you are not sure which your car has, send us a photo of your centre console and we will tell you.
PCCM Plus is made in two versions, split by generation, because the console and harness differ between the earlier and later cars. Pick yours:
What the 911 (996) and Boxster (986) came with, what changes, and what to check before booking.
What the 911 (997.1), Boxster (987.1) and Cayman (987.1) came with, what changes, and what to check before booking.
PCCM Plus goes into the existing aperture using the car’s own wiring. Nothing is cut, no trim is damaged, and the original head unit comes back to you in a box. On a car whose value rests partly on being unmolested, that matters: the change can be reversed at any point, by us or by anyone else.
The work is done at your address. We remove the original unit, fit the PCCM Plus with the correct harness for your model, set up CarPlay with your phone, tune in DAB, and check the steering-wheel controls and any factory amplifier still behave as they should before we leave. Most cars take a single visit of a couple of hours.
£1,799.99 supplied and fitted. That is the genuine Porsche Classic PCCM Plus unit, the model-specific harness, the installation, and the setup — not a starting figure that grows once we arrive.
Two things are commonly added at the same visit, and both are cheaper done together than as a second appointment: a reversing or dash camera wired into the unit’s camera input, and a speaker upgrade, since a twenty-year-old Porsche’s original speakers rarely do a modern source justice. Ask and we will price them with the job.
A modern double-DIN Android head unit costs a fraction of this, and we will say plainly that it will give you CarPlay too. What it will not do is look as though it belongs. The fascia will be wrong, the fonts will be wrong, the blue glow at night will be wrong, and a future buyer will notice. PCCM Plus is the option for an owner who wants the car usable day to day and wants it to still look like a Porsche from the driver’s seat. If a cheaper unit is the right answer for your car and how long you are keeping it, we will tell you that as well.
