Porsche PCCM Plus › PCCM Plus for 991.1 & 981
This is the PCCM Plus version for the 911 (991.1), the Boxster (981) and the Cayman (981), supplied with the 9X1 control unit and fibre optic cable these cars need. ACR Automobile supplies and fits it for £3,099.99 including VAT at your home or office across London and Surrey.
Earlier cars take earlier versions, and they cost less because they do not need the control unit: the 997.2 and 987.2 at £2,699.99, and the 997.1 and 987.1 or 996 and 986 at £2,299.99.
On these cars the head unit is not simply wired to a set of speakers. It sits on the car’s fibre optic network, alongside the amplifier and the rest of the audio system, and anything replacing it has to join that network properly rather than be spliced into it.
That is what the 9X1 control unit and the fibre optic cable in this kit do, and it is the reason this version costs more than the ones for the earlier cars. Both are included in the £3,099.99 — there is no separate parts bill arriving afterwards, which is worth checking when you compare quotes.
This matters before you spend anything. The 991 ran in two series, and the 991.2 from 2016 moved to PCM 4.0, which in most cases already has Apple CarPlay built in from the factory. If that is your car, you may not need anything from us at all, and we would rather tell you that than take the booking.
Send us the registration or a photograph of your centre console with your enquiry. We will tell you which series your car is and whether it already has what you are asking us to fit.
PCM 3.1 on the 991.1 and the 981 — a touchscreen with on-board navigation, Bluetooth and a hard disc on navigation cars. It was a capable system when the cars were new. What it does not have is CarPlay, and the gap between a 2014 interface and the phone in your pocket has widened every year since.
It is a Porsche Classic part, not an aftermarket screen with a badge on it. The fascia is built for the aperture and styled for the interior, so with the screen off the console still reads as standard — which matters rather a lot on a car like a GT4 or a 991.1 GT3, where an obviously aftermarket head unit is something a future buyer will notice and price.
£3,099.99 including VAT, supplied and fitted — the genuine Porsche Classic unit, the 9X1 control unit, the fibre optic cable, the harness, the installation and the setup. A fixed figure, not a from-price.
It goes into the existing aperture on the car’s own wiring. Nothing is cut, no trim is damaged, and your original PCM comes back to you in a box, so the car can be returned to standard at any point. We pair your phone, tune DAB, and check the steering-wheel controls and the factory amplifier before we leave.
